New Canopus Edius Updates Coming Soon
Happy Halloween! Canopus has been busy and is releasing some updates. Most notable here is the FREE inclusion of Xplode Professional. The announcement from the forum:
EDIUS v4.1: The next stage in EDIUS v4's evolution. This FREE update will add full XDCAM HD editing support, featuring patent pending technology. It'll also add XDCAM SD and HD proxy support, P2 background transfer and Grass Valley K2 GXF export. Since these really only affect EDIUS Broadcast users, we've also slipped in a couple of tweaks that all the EDIUS Pro v4 users can use too.
A note about GXF support - this requires a new dongle, which will automatically be included with shipments in November (the 12th onward at this estimate). K2 GXF support is a very specialised requirement, and as such, we're swapping existing dongles on a case-by-case basis. In all likelihood, you are not missing much by keeping your current EDIUS Broadcast dongle.
People needing Grass Valley K2 GXF support (and who purchased a pre-v4.1 EDIUS product) will need to contact Canopus or their reseller to arrange a dongle transfer.
Incidentally, from mid-November, all EDIUS v4 products will ship with a single DVD-ROM containing all software mentioned in this post. No more multi-cd releases.
More information on v4.1 will be posted when it is released.
Xplode Professional v4.5 for EDIUS v4 software: We will be releasing the entire software product as a free download for all EDIUS v4 users (because it will ship on the new aforementioned v4 DVD-ROM release).
This full version of Xplode offers all the features of Xplode Professional v4.0 within the EDIUS v4 software. No new features have been added, nor will there be a new hardware rendering library. Xplode Professional is now considered a legacy product, and new feature development has ceased for the time being.
(Btw, no price rise with X4's inclusion)
Adobe Premiere Pro v1.5 plug-in: A slight rearrangement of distribution is coming, but no real changes in functionality (support for v4 Canopus codec changes to HQ and Lossless is about it).
V1.5 is the last Adobe Premiere Pro software product we will be supporting with our editing hardware boards (NX, SP, Storm etc). Support is as follows:
- DVStorm, Rex, Raptor RT2, EDIUS DVX = Video codecs, device control, video I/O and specialised RT plugin
- EDIUS NX, SP = Video Codecs, device control and video I/O
Video Output Plug-in Pack for NX/SP Repackaged output plug-in pack, updated somewhat for current versions. These will let you use NX/SP hardware to ouput frames within: - Adobe Photoshop CS/CS2 - Adobe After Effects 7 - LightWave 3D 8.5
(I'm hoping that a LW v9 patch will come later - no promises)
DVCapture v1.11 This application will let you use multiple DV inputs to capture several tapes simultaneously. The only significant change with this release is that it will now run independant of Canopus hardware only if you have v4 of EDIUS software installed.
MPEGcapture v4.02 We're re-releasing this standalone application to add support for the latest HQ codec included in EDIUS v4 products, and to provide DVStorm users with a means to capture their DV and analog to MPEG-2 after installing v4.
If you use EDIUS v4, don't have Storm, and you're happy using the current MPEG-2 capture functions, you don't need this utility.
