From ENG to EFP, editing to archiving, Grass Valley’s REV PRO ER and XP media are affordable IT-based removable media supporting the demands of ENG and EFP performance and durability in true filebased workflows.
Leveraging more than 26 years of removable hard disk drive technology used throughout the IT industry, REV PRO™ drives and media are specifically engineered for the demands of video professionals.
That’s because REV PRO products provide the portability and costeffectiveness of videotape—combined with the speed, flexibility, and ease of use of true nonlinear media such as hard disks. REV PRO media uses standard laptop hard drive components, but are engineered for much greater reliability by placing only the magnetic media and motor within the removable cartridge. The drive heads and electronics remain in the drive itself. The result? A unique design that’s incredibly durable and cost effective.
Enhanced Performance
REV PRO media offers many advantages. Its enhanced record/playback capability supports enough throughput for highdefinition video along with overhead support for audio, timecode, and metadata tracks. This bandwidth is also sufficient for high-quality content, media capable of supporting two independent streams. In addition, REV PRO media offers simultaneous record/playback capabilities, letting you finish your projects faster by not having to ingest footage.
Day in and day out, REV PRO products can stand up to the harsh environmental realities of ENG and EFP use. The media can withstand extreme temperatures as well as altitudes up to 4,500 meters (14,700 feet). The drive is robust and extremely durable. In fact, the long-term archival rating of the media is specified at more than 30 years, and the media can perform over one million record/erase cycles without failure.
REV PRO comes with professional level support and security. Media can be repurposed knowing that old material cannot be accessed by using the REV PRO Mil Spec erase/shredding feature.
REV PRO Drives
REV PRO drives offer unprecedented flexibility and additional functions to your workflow. They offer high performance under rigorous field conditions as well as in studios and edit suites. They are an excellent choice for standalone storage and backup of media and associated files, such as scripts and notes. And they’re a great, low-cost way to distribute content.
The drives are available in internal and external configurations. The internal drives with SATA interfaces are ideal for network and workstation installations. External portable drives are available with a USB 2.0 interface, and are compatible with PC and Mac platforms. The external drive can easily be connected via USB ports to any personal computer.
But the cost-effectiveness of REV PRO drives doesn’t stop there. Simply attach an external REV PRO drive to a laptop PC and you have an instant, low-cost HD preview station.
