Multibridge Extreme
and Multibridge Pro are the world’s first all-in-one bi-directional
capture and playback solutions that instantly switch between HD and SD,
feature 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 video quality, and include the new high speed PCI
Express connection - Use it as the world's highest quality converter or
editing system.
 |
Capture
and Playback
Connect the built-in PCI Express 10
Gbps connection to any supported Windows XP or Mac OS X based
computer and Multibridge instantly turns into the ultimate break out
box capture and playback solution, fully compatible with almost any
NLE |
software. Use Final
Cut Pro HD on Mac OS X, Premiere Pro and Vegas on Windows XP, or an even
wider range of creative video applications. At an amazingly high speed of
10 Gbps, PCI Express is 25 times faster than FireWire and has the speed to
handle high video data rate capture and playback from 10 bit uncompressed
standard definition and high definition video, right up to 10 bit RGB
4:4:4 feature film quality and beyond. PCI Express is low cost because
it’s already built into most PC motherboards. With a high quality PCI
Express connection cable and computer adapter included free, you get a
complete solution ready to go.
The All-in-one Converter
When you
disconnect the PCI Express cable from the host computer you have the
ideal solution for converting analog equipment to SDI-based digital
systems, as Multibridge will instantly switch into a bi-directional
broadcast video and audio converter. Simultaneously convert from
digital to analog, and analog to digital all at the |
 |
same time with selectable audio embedding
and de-embedding. Multibridge works as an independent converter and is the
ideal solution for converting analog equipment such as Betacam SP decks or
HDV cameras, into modern SDI digital systems.
 |
HD Resolution Monitoring
You'll love the full resolution HD
monitoring that's included with Multibridge Extreme via the built-in
DVI-D dual link connection. Connect any DVI-D 23 inch LCD computer
monitor for full HD resolution monitoring at much lower cost than a
dedicated HD broadcast monitor. DVI-D monitoring is fully digital
and every single |
pixel in HD video is digitally mapped to
each pixel on a 23 inch computer display, so you get incredible digital to
screen quality. Multibridge uses the new dual link DVI-D standard which
combined with extra processing power, lets you connect larger 30 inch
computer displays. Now you can scale HD video to fill the screen, or use
the extra resolution for full resolution 2K 2048 x 1556 playback for
feature film editing and effects. Multibridge Extremes DVI-D output also
switches to HDMI, so you have the widest selection of monitoring options.
Multibridge Pro models include a dedicated HDMI output for connection to a
wide range of HDMI televisions and video projectors, so you can show your
clients big screen digital monitoring with full digital quality.
Fully Featured Audio and Video Support
Need to be ready for HD while also
connecting to analog decks such as Betacam SP™? Multibridge Extreme and
Multibridge Pro are format agnostic and include enough video and audio
inputs and outputs to connect to virtually anything!

Multibridge Extreme and Multibridge Pro
support both analog and digital audio conversion in an all-in-one compact
1 rack unit size. Video conversion features both analog component RGB/YUV
and composite NTSC/PAL. For analog audio, 2 channels in and out of
balanced +4dB audio on standard XLR connectors is included. Multibridge
Extreme includes 8 channels of AES/EBU digital audio in and out with each
input featuring sample rate conversion, while Multibridge Pro includes 4
channels of AES/EBU audio in and out with sample rate conversion. Although
Multibridge includes digital video monitoring, both Multibridge Extreme
and Pro also include unbalanced stereo audio output - perfect for low cost
in-suite Hi-Fi audio monitoring.

World's Highest Quality
Fully compatible
with SDI and HD-SDI 4:2:2, the Multibridge Extreme model also features the
revolutionary Dual Link HD-SDI 4:4:4 connection for feature film quality.
All Multibridge models include 14 bit digital to analog conversion for the
highest quality video available. The Dual Link 4:4:4 television standard,
as used on the latest Sony HDCAM SR decks, contains additional color
detail giving you full RGB color bandwidth and extra precision of up to 10
bit SDI video. When connected via PCI Express to a host computer, this
higher quality video can be captured and played back completely
uncompressed, allowing better quality than any other system at any price.
Multibridge features hardware color space conversion so 4:4:4 clips can be
played to 4:2:2 SDI decks, and 4:2:2 clips can be played out to 4:4:4
decks such as Sony HDCAM-SR. Multibridge is Ideal for connecting to
Digital Betacam™ , Panasonic HD-D5™ or the new Sony HDCAM SR decks.
Uncompressed 10 bit video is the highest quality possible from the SDI
television system, and only uncompressed video will hold up under heavy
working conditions demanded by clients today while retaining that delicate
film look.
High Definition or Standard Definition
All Multibridge
models feature dual rate SDI and are completely format agnostic, so you
can switch between high definition or standard definition instantly.
Easily connect to 270 Mbps standard definition SDI equipment such as
Digital Betacam, as well as 1.485 Gbps high definition SDI equipment such
as HDCAM or HD-D5 or even the extreme quality of 10 bit 4:4:4 as used on
the new Sony HDCAM SR decks. With the ability to update new formats via
USB, you can connect to virtually any equipment now and in the future.
Multibridge is ideal if you're only working in standard definition, but
need to switch to high definition at any time. Only Multibridge allows you
to move between standards this easily, and is the ideal solution for
moving to HD while retaining compatibility with the standard definition
equipment you have now.
Compatible with all Video Software
Multibridge Extreme
and Multibridge Pro feature a high speed PCI Express connection so you can
connect to a host computer, while using a wide range of video software for
video capture and playback. Multibridge is compatible with QuickTime and
DirectShow so you can use any supported video software in either standard
definition, high definition, or even 4:4:4 10 bit RGB HD. Unlike pre-built
systems, with Multibridge you can customize your system for different
tasks simply by selecting the video software you prefer to use. Use Final
Cut Pro HD on Mac OS X, or Premiere Pro on Windows XP for editing, then
combine Adobe After Effects, Fusion and Photoshop for broadcast design and
paint. Finish your job by using DVD authoring software to give your
clients a DVD. That’s unlimited flexibility to work in any way you want.
Finally the choice is yours.
Down Conversion and Real Time Effects
Multibridge features
massive processing power - fantastic for broadcast quality HD down
conversion and other processing based features. Down conversion is great
when Multibridge Extreme is used as a standalone converter, or when
plugged into Mac OS X and Windows XP platforms via the built-in PCI
Express connection you can playback simultaneous HD and SD - great for
monitoring in both standards at the same time. Even complex multi layer HD
editing can be down converted and played out in standard definition all in
real time. Down conversion uses our custom polyphase interpolation and
filtering for incredible quality at the highest 10 bit precision.
Loads of Software Utilities Free
Multibridge includes the famous DeckLink
software, when connected to a host computer via PCI Express, giving you a
wide range of free software utilities. For broadcast graphics and paint,
we include Photoshop plug-ins for capture and output of still frames. If
you need DPX image sequence, our new FrameLink lets you access QuickTime
and AVI media as DPX files instantly. The famous Deck Control application
lets you control a deck remotely via RS-422 and capture and play clips to
and from tape with timecode accuracy - great for broadcast designers. For
easy disk array setup we include Disk Speed Test - real-world check of
your capture disk, with speed results displayed in easy to understand
video frames per second. When moving media between systems, use the free
Blackmagic Software Codec for opening and rendering media even when you
don’t have hardware installed.

Two Great Models
With two great models to choose from
you can get the best solution for your needs. Multibridge Pro includes
most features for the ultimate compact break out box style video
solution. Multibridge Extreme is perfect when you need maximum video and
audio connections combined with the extra power of 2K film and live
mixing support.
Multibridge Pro
Multibridge Extreme
4 Lane
PCI Express
Multibridge includes a 4 lane PCI
Express Adapter and 4 Lane PCI Express connection cable so you get the
speed for all video formats.
Work in 2K Feature Film Resolution
Multibridge Extreme has the speed of
PCI Express combined with support for an Apple 30 inch Cinema display
via the DVI-D dual link connection. That allows the full resolution of a
30 inch display to playback 2K feature film resolution, so you see pixel
for pixel feature film resolution. That's because Multibridge with PCI
Express supports the 2K specification even for QXGA monitors, i.e. 2048
x 1536 @ 75Hz, and the 30" monitor can easily display this with
it's 2560 x 1600 display. Imagine editing 2K video in real time at full
resolution without any proxies. It's now possible with Multibridge
Extreme.
Capture Gamma Tables
Capture video direct from log video
sources by using custom gamma tables loaded into the DeckLink system
preference. DeckLink uses the same gamma table technology and file
format as the popular HDLink DVI converter, so you can reuse your custom
gamma tables facility wide. You can even customize lift, gain and gamma
settings for each RGB channel, if you're simply color balancing input
video. We also include Panasonic(TM) and Grass Valley Viper(TM) camera
standard gamma tables, allowing instant setup when on the production
set.
Multibridge gets a Workout
Multibridge gets a workout at
Blackmagic Design Singapore, our own post production facility.
Blackmagic Design was originally started by people from the post
production industry and our post production experience means Multibridge
was designed specifically for the needs of a real world post production
environment, not a computer lab.
Flexible Rack Mount
Multibridge™ was designed with a
compact reversible rack mount design letting you mount connectors
forward or to the rear. That's great when you need to install in the
rear of an equipment rack. Place it on your desk or monitor by using the
included adhesive rubber feet.
Updates and Configuration Via USB
Forget annoying DIP switches, as
Multibridge™ features all settings and software updates via built-in
USB 2.0 connection and the easy to use Multibridge Utility software for
Windows XP and Mac OS X.
Connect Everyone Together
Check out Workgroup Videohub as the
best way to connect your editing system to decks electronically.
Workgroup Videohub is a professional routing switcher that lets you
connect everyone together via SDI video. Connections can be changed
electronically via software based control panels running right on your
editing system computer!

Offline Editing
Check out DeckLink cards for a low cost
offline editing tool. File formats are identical between Multibridge and
DeckLink cards, and most editing software has full EDL support, so you
can edit offline work for episodic television production, or feature
film work, and then export EDL’s for any editing system. Or just move
project files from system to system.
Famous Blackmagic Codec
The world famous Blackmagic Codec
allows highest rendering quality with 16 bit precision. Unlike other
products, only the Blackmagic Codec features correct anti aliasing 4:2:2
color filtering, so RGB graphics convert to correct 4:2:2 YUV video
space without aliasing problems.
Blackmagic Deck Control
Blackmagic Deck Control application
lets you capture and play clips, and it takes care of communicating with
decks via RS-422. Blackmagic Deck Control software is easy to use, and
just enter an IN and OUT timecode point, and select grab, or put, and
your clip will be transferred between Multibridge and your broadcast
deck. It’s all automatic, so it’s fast. Blackmagic Deck Control is
compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows XP. You can even grab still
frames from decks!
